Billing

The billing service deals with the revenue side of the equation. Revenues are assessed, positioned to the customer during quoting, and when orders are placed and fulfillment initiated, they are billed to the customer in the customer's currency. Borderfree manages all aspects of customer billing as a value added service. Alternately, if the merchant wishes to handle revenue collection and reimbursement themselves, the system is configurable and all other costs are invoiced to merchant on a regular financial cycle.

Settlement

Our settlement service manages the cost side of the equation. The fulfillment lifecycle is comprised of many partners whose services are settled in the partner's currency by Borderfree. Reconciliation

Part of our financial control process is to perform continual reconciliation. Borderfree reconciles across merchant, customer, and our own views of an order's price components and how they relate to physical order fulfillment events. Inconsistencies are flagged and reviewed between relevant parties to ensure swift, monthly bookkeeping commitments held by the merchant.

Cost Certainty

Key to providing fully landed cost pricing is the management of cost certainty throughout the order lifecycle. Working with partners, Borderfree negotiates and manages partner service rates. Typically each partner quotes their rates in their currency. With exchange rates changing in real-time the complexity of this exercise grows. Borderfree works with strategic partners to manage our currency collection and procurement. With these partners, we are able to offer locked exchange rates for the duration of the customer order. All prices positioned at time of order are preserved through its fulfillment, even in the case of split shipments, delays and ultimately returns.
